The Beauty Gallery
The Beauty Gallery (Schönheitengalerie) at Nymphenburg Palace on the outskirts of Munich displays a collection of 36 portraits of women who met King Ludwig's criteria of the ideal female face. All but two were painted by Joseph Karl Stieler.
The room is frequently called "The Gallery of Beauties" at Wikipedia and other websites. However, Veronica Leary translated the title of Gerhard Hojer's definitive German-language book on the subject as "King Ludwig I's Beauty Gallery" and deferring to her expertise that is the term we use here.
